The HTC One Mini 2 was supposed to be presented in May but there are delays that were encountered. Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini was officially announced in June and the official release date should be in July. The two smartphones are similar and do take most of their features from their larger counterparts. Both smartphones have a 4.5 inch display and a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels. Also, both have a density of 326 ppi. Samsung uses Super AMOLED and HTC uses LCD2. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is included as chosen protection for both displays.
When referring to design, the HTC One Mini 2 instantly stands out. It simply looks better as it uses aluminum instead of the glossy, fake metal we see at the corners with Galaxy S5 Mini.

Technology Used
HTC One Mini 2 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quadcore Cortex-A7 processor. It is clocked at 1.2 GHz and is covered with 1 GB of RAM. Galaxy S5 Mini also includes quadcore but it is Exynos 3 Quad chipset, clocked at 1.4 GHz, with 1.5 GB of RAM.
Both smarthpones run on Android KitKat and you can upgrade from the included 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 if you want to.
HTC One 2 Mini can be expanded in storage space up to 128 GB while the competition can only go as high as 64 GB.
Battery And Camera
HTC One Mini 2 has an impressive 13 MP camera and also includes LED Flash, together with a front camera of 5 MP. Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini’s camera is 8 MP while the secondary one is 2.1 MP. The batteries used are the same but HTC’s cannot be removed.
Connectivity And Colors
The two smartphones include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB and LTE. Samsung uses micro-sim while HTC uses nano-sim. Support for NFC is included in both.
Galaxy S5 Mini offers 4 color versions: copper gold, electric blue, shimmery white and charcoal black. HTC One Mini 2 offers 3 color options: amber gold, gunmetal gray and glacial silver.
Price
HTC One Mini 2 costs around $630 while Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini 2 is between $550 and $650. With this in mind, many tend to go for Samsung.
