Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe Review

By Boris Dzhingarov

There are so many Asus ZenFones on the market that it is not hard to miss the 2 Deluxe version. ZenFone is the most popular of the smartphones launched by Asus so banking on the popularity is something that seems to be in the mind of the manufacturer. The 2 Deluxe is offering 2 high configurations in 4 GB RAM, with 64 or 128 GB of storage.

The only real appearance design between the 2 Deluxe and the ZenFone 2 is the back of the smartphone. The Deluxe option is better-looking. Grip is good enough and easiness of use can be seen as quite high.

Interesting Specifications

The processor is a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 SoC with 4 GB of RAM. You can get internal storage of up to 128 GB with a non-removable battery. There are separate memory slots for microSD and Micro-SIM. Just the main SIM spot will support 4G and the second one just offers 2G. The LCD screen is good and fast charging will be a reason why some businessmen may consider the smartphone.

Android 5.0 is included and the user interface is one that is pretty good, making customization really easy. Many apps are already included and you will not gain access to various additional features included in some of the competing devices. For instance, Honor 7 does have a better performance for the camera, a better build quality and even the desired fingerprint sensor.

Camera

The Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe shares its camera with the ZenFone 2, the ZenFone Selfie and the ZenFone Laser. We have a front 5 MP camera that brings in results we can only describe as average. When you buy a smartphone simply because you want a good camera, this is definitely not the gadget for you. The pictures can easily end up with noise, color burning and overexposure.

Performance

We can easily describe the smartphone as being capable. It is efficient and zippy because of the processor. You will have a completely comfortable experience. Multitasking is not difficult even for the heavier user. During different benchmark tests the Deluxe version did bring in some higher scores when compared with ZenFone 2. This may be just because of the updates that appeared in the meantime for many apps. However, a specific Performance Mode feature will increase the performance of the CPU.

Conclusions

On the whole, we can say that Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe is just a little bit better than the ZenFone 2. It has a great looking back panel and the quality is what you already expect from the ZenFone 2. Functionality and performance problems appear just due to various ZenUI tweaks and updates.

The bottom line is that you want to buy the Deluxe version only if you want to have a back panel that is textured. Deluxe is simply not that huge of an update. Even so, the device is good enough for most possible smartphone users. We recommend that you test it in order to see if you are going to appreciate what it offers before you buy it.
