Do you take advantage of technology when you study?

5 Ways to Use Technology When You Study

Today, students are inundated with technology, and it’s not just there when they are studying. Technology is playing an increasingly larger part in our daily lives; our smartphones have become much more than just a communication device and everything is becoming more and more connected. For students, technology can be an incredible study tool to help you during your time at college. It can help you manage your stress levels and become more productive, but on the other hand, it can also have a negative impact by becoming a distraction from studies. If you are a student who wants to make technology work for you and help you get better results with your degree, here are our top tips.

Tip #1. Benefit from Paperless Notes:

Writing notes with a pen and notepad while you’re sitting in a lecture is still a top choice for many students, but paperless notes can have a wide range of further benefits. Taking notes on your laptop means that you’ll be able to better organize them into sections and go through them later, avoiding the stress of searching through pages and pages of written notes. And, taking notes on your laptop makes it easy for you to save them on your hard drive or in the cloud, so there’s no need to worry about losing your notes.

Tip #2. Get Essay Writing Help:

Are you struggling with writing your next essay? Then don’t worry – the internet is an amazing tool which can offer you the help that you need. A simple Google search will bring up a myriad of tips and even examples that you can use in your own time to work on your academic essay writing skills and get better results from your written assignments. And, you can even find a website where you can buy essays. While it’s not a great idea to have your actual assignments written by somebody else, this can be a great resource if you’re looking for custom examples to use as a framework or inspiration for your essays in the future.

Tip #3. Deal with Distractions:

Let’s face it – social media or movie and TV show streaming can quickly become a distraction when you’re meant to be studying. And when you’re using your laptop or smartphone to study, your favorite websites and channels are right there in front of you. The good news is that you can find several tools to help you disconnect and focus on what you are meant to be doing. If you use a MacBook, you can download a software program called ‘Self Control’ that allows you to select which times you want to study, during which times it will block any websites that you don’t want to visit such as Facebook or Netflix, that you know will easily become a distraction.

Tip #4. Use Music to Help You Study:

While social media or TV shows can become a distraction, music on the other hand can be excellent for helping you stay focused when you are studying. Simply putting on some of your favorite tunes can lift your mood significantly and help you stay motivated to focus on what you need to be doing. When you’re using your laptop or smartphone to study, it’s easy to get access to large online music libraries right at your fingertips. Put together a study playlist and have it on in the background – you might be surprised as to just how much difference it can make!

Tip #5. Take Breaks at the Right Times:

Last but not least, don’t forget that studying flat-out for hours isn’t always good for you. To make sure that you stay fresh and keep your mind motivated and productive, it’s wise to take short, regular breaks. Every hour or so, take 5-10 minutes to stretch your legs and get a glass of water. Not only will this help you refresh your mind, but it’s also essential for keeping your eyes in good health if you’re studying on a device such as a laptop or smartphone, since staring at a screen for too long can cause eye strain. Use your device to set reminders to take a break. When you’re focused on studying, they’ll come around a lot quicker than you realize!
