BIOS Problems and How to Fix Them

Every modern system motherboard features BIOS software installed. Unlike Windows, Unix and Linux operating systems, BIOS operates independently from them to function efficiently on your machine.

POST errors occur when your computer’s hardware fails during its power-on self-test (POST). ACPI errors

ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is used to regulate power usage on both computers and mobile devices, dividing power among different hardware according to your system requirements and allocating it appropriately across hardware components. ACPI also controls various functions, such as detecting when your computer enters sleep mode or switching into low power consumption mode when battery power falls below threshold levels. Unfortunately, errors associated with ACPI are one of the more frequent cause BSOD issues for Windows; however there are multiple solutions for fixing them.

First step to fixing an ACPI BIOS error is ensuring all drivers are up-to-date, as outdated or incorrect drivers can lead to numerous issues and the ACPI BIOS error itself. You may use System Restore feature of Windows PC’s to restore it back in time which will reset certain aspects of operating system, and thus eliminate ACPI BIOS errors.

Unother way of solving this problem is to disable overclocking on your computer by altering its BIOS settings. To do so, enter BIOS and navigate to Advanced > System Component, change OS image ID from “Windows” and reset CMOS before rebooting your PC.

If you are still experiencing an ACPI BIOS error, one way to reboot into Safe Mode might help is pressing F8 during bootup and selecting “Safe Mode.” Once done, reboot and see if your problem has been solved.

An additional common cause of ACPI BIOS errors is a malfunctioning CMOS battery, which can prevent your BIOS from booting as well as cause other computer issues.
